Keep Swinging

With today's post this blog has been up for exactly one year. It was last Father's Day that we experimented with doing a service exclusively focused on men. Because of the success of that sermon we decided to do it again. It appears it may become a tradition for us.

"Man church" appears to be a bit hit but I'm not sure of the effectiveness of continuing the blog. It gets around 50 hits a week even if the comments are very sparse. For those of you who read the blog let me know if you think it is worth continuing.

Speaking of this morning's sermon, I know it's hard to believe this cute little scout went .000 one season in little league baseball but it's true. One entire season without a single hit.

I have enjoyed reading the blog, but have never posted a comment because I really don't have much to say, (most people know I really don't say much, not necessarily because I am shy but because I really don't have much to say. I know it sounds repetitive, but I really don't have much to say).

It would be sad not to have the blog any more, but I can understand where the time it takes to write the blog may not be enough to offset the benefits that people get from reading it, especially if there are only a few that do read it on a regular basis. Kind of like Astroworld - most people were upset to see it go, but when was the last time anyone actually went to it.

Anyway, for next years manly sermon, maybe the theme could be Golf.
The only hold-up (besides the sermon, but I would never do one because I don't say much and I doubt I could come up with enough to say for 20-25 minutes straight, so I will leave that up to someone else) would be the golf balls. I imagine the persons throwing them might get some enjoyment watching those who are sports challenged attempt to catch a 1.68" heavy plastic ball before it bounces off my head. Opps, meant that to be generic, so how about "bounce off anyones head but mine.

And then maybe the next year the theme could be Indy car racing (this would match more closely to the go-carts at the local track than those one size fits all Nascar cars that pretends to be real racing but is really just a popularity contest like "wrasling" - hope I haven't offended anyone, but then again Nascar isn't real racing). I don't know what could be given out, hotwheels maybe. Although they might hurt some people (namely me) it would still be cool.
And there could be a video of me tearing up the track while all the high schoolers just look on dumbfounded while I am passing them for the seventh time on my way to victory. I know, it not always about me, but I can dream, can't I?

Anyway, this is way more than I've said for about a month, so I guess it's time to go home and hug Kathy.

Nice boy scout pic. When I have time I will go back and listen to your sermon. It might even help me go to sleep at night! Ha!

This comment is about three weeks late but I'm about three weeks behind on all my reading! I've enjoyed this blog - hope you keep it up.

i enjoyed the sermon very much. I think the blog could grow, or it could die, if it gets 50 hits a week now, how did it do 6 months ago?

I say pray about it and let God decide.

I love reading your blog. I wish you would write a book.
