My favorite part of today's sermon text (Matthew 14:22-33) is when Jesus immediately reaches out to Peter when Peter's faith failed. What a Savior! When Peter put his faith into action (with permission I might add) he had no reason to fear because even if his faith failed he would still be safe because Jesus would rescue him.
If you know what Jesus wants you to do; go ahead and do it! Even if you don't do it perfectly, even if you get the middle of it and suffer a faith collapse, Jesus will still give you exactly what you need. What a Savior! That's why you can trust him.
So don't worry about failure. Jesus has you covered. Put your attention on him. Make sure you understand his word and then get out of the boat. Walking on water is not just for the "Super Christians". It's for all those who put their trust in Jesus. So, go ahead; get out of the boat.

Loved the sermon yesterday and all the metaphors for the ruthless trust we each need to reach out for. It's been sometime since I've last looked at this bit of scripture so thanks for leading us toward it yesterday morning.
I think your right, the best part of the story was when Jesus reached out and immediately rescued Peter. What a faithful savior we have! Which is a story we see throughout the bible, through the history of Israel and now with us. But can we trust even when the waves are lapping against us?
Christ knows we can do this just as he knew Peter could walk on water. The problem remains within ourselves. Can we do this? I feel that as long as we remember that we're not perfect and sometimes we'll notice more the crashing waves rather than Jesus, but even in the midst of the chaos, we have to trust that our savior will reach out and rescue us! We are not alone on this faith journey!
